Then Jesus, filled with the power of the Spirit, returned to Galilee, and a report about him spread through all the surrounding country. (Luke 4:14)This really is of no surprise to many of us. After all, Jesus is God's Son. He is the Messiah. He is this perfect man - God made flesh... the Word made flesh. Being granted this power of the Spirit makes sense. We'd probably all be pretty confused if this was not the way things happened.
But what many of us fail to recognize is that we're all sons and daughters of God as well. And this power of the Spirit is available to each of us. This power is there to guide us to truth, and to guide us into reaching out to others with this truth. This power is there to teach us love, and to guide us into reaching out to others with this love. This power is there to bring us peace and hope and comfort, and to guide us into spreading this peace, hope and comfort to others.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
