Hope

Hope... an evil four letter word. Hope is one of the most powerful concepts humans have, stronger than fear, as strong as faith, and nearly as strong as love. It is what keeps us all holding on, fighting, dreaming.

1 Corinthians 13:13: "So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

There are many Bible verses which mention hope. And in all (that I read), hope is a wondrous thing. Hope  in God, and in his goodness and mercy, it keeps us all strong. Or does it?

........

I was going to try writing a positive sermon regarding hope, and its importance and necessity in life. But the truth is, to hope is to put expectations on life, on God, on others. And these things do not always follow our expectations. Therefore, we get let down time and again, all because we had the audacity to hope for something.

I hate hope. I despise the word, the action, and all it encompasses and all it means. Hope is a fairy tale. But perhaps that's the point. We all like to believe in fairy tales.

So yeah, this sermon is seriously lacking in content, and hope. Hopefully the next post will be better....
