Do You Praise Him in the Storm?

Casting Crowns - Praise You in the Storm

It's easy to praise God when things are going right - when our lives are going in the direction we want them to. When those we love are healthy and happy. When our children are doing well and our marriage is full of love and happiness.

But what about when things aren't going right? Someone you love is terminally ill, or has passed on? Your child has gotten involved in drugs? Your marriage is falling apart? A storm has destroyed your home?

Do you praise Him then?

We may fall to our knees and pray during times like these...
We may get angry and not find the strength to pray at all...

But do you praise Him?

Or do you blame Him?

I admit, I usually blame Him. I don't praise Him. How can I praise the one responsible for so much pain and sorrow?

Yes, this is a wrong way to look at it. But in the midst of the storm, it's not so easy to realize we're doing this - that we're blaming, rather than praising, God. We need to step back and be aware of our thoughts. We need to be praising him rather than blaming Him. We need to recognize that he IS still with us during these trials. He's holding us, and loving us. That alone is reason enough for praising Him.

So, listen to the song.. listen to the lyrics... and the next time a storm hits your life, Praise Him!
