If We are the Body....

Yesterday morning was World Day of Prayer. I have never participated or attended one of these services until yesterday. I'm glad I said "yes" when I was asked if I would take on one of the speaking parts, otherwise I wouldn't have gone to this service - I would have stayed at work, as the service was at 11am.

The message was welcoming a stranger. And it was a good message. It was one of those messages which should be obvious to all of us - and one in which I can personally identify with. But, it's one which most of us don't think about. We don't always welcome the stranger with open arms. We may ignore them, or maybe we look on them with judgement.

During the collection of the offering, the leader of the service played a song which I had heard before... and which is very well done with a wonderful message... I urge all of you to listen to it, and to listen to the lyrics (or read them... they're posted below). I won't babble any longer... I think the song says it all, and says it better than I ever could.....

Casting Crowns: If We Are The Body

It's crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girls' teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know

Chorus:
But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgmental glances
Tells him that his chances are better out on the road

(chorus)

Jesus payed much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come
And we are the body of Christ

(chorus repeat 2x)

Jesus is the way
